Have thoughts, ideas and even messages from God come to you when you are not expecting them? Perhaps they come when you are painting, knitting, or even in the shower?
Something wonderful happens when we change our environment, pace or activity.
Some activities help our minds relax from the ordinary pressure and problem-solving thoughts.
This happens for me when I get outside. But it doesn’t always start out that way…
There is often a time of transition, or “changing gears” first.
The other day I went out in the sunshine, but my thoughts were more like gray and cloudy skies. I was thinking about all sorts of things that weren’t important. My thoughts were declining to self-criticism and judgment. My thoughts were going down the wrong path!
I started to pray, “change my heart, God” …
Then a thought popped into my mind…
Lord, You have already given you a new heart!
I will plant a new heart and new spirit inside of you. I will take out your stubborn, stony heart and give you a willing, tender heart of flesh. And I will put My Spirit inside of you and inspire you to live by My statutes and follow My laws. — Ezekiel 36:26-27
Instead of asking God for what He has already done, I started shouting out my thankfulness with delight.
What a wonderful shift!
I started thanking and praising God with my whole heart.
What started out as self-focused disappointment,
turned into a “Praise-fest” to God.
Your Turn
So, what path are your thoughts traveling down?
Let me know. I’d love for you to leave a comment. And feel free to book a free (no obligation) half-hour chat with me. We talk things out if that would help. We need one another, God built us as one.
Praising on the pathway of joy,
