Jesus

Our first discussions have been about preparation for moving forward. We discussed how every journey has a starting place and that God is here to help us understand our interior life.

Connecting our awareness with God is the most important thing we do.

I love this paraphrase of Ephesians 1:11-12

It’s in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for. Long before we first heard of Christ and got our hopes up, he had his eye on us, had designs on us for glorious living, part of the overall purpose he is working out in everything and everyone. Ephesians 1:11-12 Message Version

What Drives Us?

Looking inside may be new for some of us. We are trained to be active, to get things done. Sitting around thinking about ourselves is considered a waste of time, r even indulgent. The trouble with this viewpoint is that when we are not aware of our interior life, we are not aware of what is driving our actions. That is what we call that our motives. When we are not aware of our motives, we make unhelpful decisions.

We are built to live aware and make informed decisions.

Tip for Today

Here is a helpful way to discern where you are and where you desire to go regarding your inner life. Read God’s description of the fruit of His Spirit. This describes Who God is and what He wants for us to enjoy.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Galatians 5:22-23 NIV

Look at each of those words. Ask God what He wants you to experience today. Where is your heart and what does it need?

  • More peace?
  • More awareness of His faithfulness?
  • More of His control for temptations?

Take a minute right now to bask.

Yes, that is it. Just bask and receive.

Try it a few times this week.

Enjoy walking on His path of Joy.

More next time.
