I was asked how I would like to celebrate my 50th birthday? Some of my friends have gone deep sea diving, visited the world’s largest rodeo, had a fireworks show and gone sky diving to celebrate – what a blast. I thought for awhile and said, “What makes me really happy is raising awareness for people who can’t help themselves.”
My girlfriend from Canada, Karen Barkman, went to Liberia for her 50th birthday and started helping displaced families, widows and orphans. She joined forces with Hope for the Nations (HFTN), which is an agency that combines all their wisdom, experience and prophetic gifting to help those in need. It is an unbelievably well run organization that I have been involved with for almost 20 years. Many of you met Ralph and Donna Bromley when they were here last month, Ralph taught on Sunday (click to hear his sermon)
So, for my 50th, my wish is for you to come, enjoy being with friends, and munch on some scrumptious desserts and appetizers. While there, instead of gifts, I want to share my passion with you. I have prepared a short presentation of the incredible things God has done through microloans with Provision of Hope (one of the many projects of Hope for the Nations). You’ll hear stories like the self-sustaining taxi driver and the pharmacist who opened a pharmacy for only $650!
I am not expecting anyone to make donations or do anything they don’t feel God is leading them to do. It really is my joy to let you know the great things God is doing.
“HFTN partners with Provision of Hope, a Kelowna, BC based organization that is dedicated to serving the poor in Liberia, West Africa.
